Benelux Hydrogen Knowledge Exchange
LuxHyVal and HEAVENN convened researchers, engineers, consortium members, and stakeholders in Groningen for the Benelux Hydrogen Knowledge Exchange, focusing on collaboration across the region’s hydrogen ecosystem and the European Hydrogen Valleys network.
Day 1 included an overview of Groningen’s energy landscape (Charles van Santvoord, New Energy Coalition), the official opening (Jan M., Benelux Union), and technical updates from Geerte de Jong (New Energy Coalition, Netherlands), Bradley Ladewig (LuxHyVal, Luxembourg), and Adwin Martens (WaterstofNet, Belgium). A social acceptance workshop led by Mariangela Vespa and Aline Adam (IZES gGmbH) explored three topics: relevance of acceptance (Alicia Martínez de Yuso, PhD), engagement strategies (Aline Adam), and cross-border learning (Kris Helten).
Day 2 featured site visits to Groningen Seaports and associated facilities, followed by a presentation from Wisse Hummel (Groningen Seaports). Davide Galloni examined hydrogen transport technologies, trade-offs, and logistics, prompting discussion on current challenges. David Muresan presented the six projects of Green Planet Pesse, with facilitation by Edward Doorten.
The event concluded with the LuxHyVal General Assembly to review progress and align next steps for the regional hydrogen roadmap.
