Luxembourg Hydrogen Valley

The LuxHyVal (Luxembourg Hydrogen Valley) project is a flagship European initiative advancing the deployment of green hydrogen technologies and establishing a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem in Luxembourg. LuxHyVal integrates stakeholders from across the hydrogen value chain to produce, store, distribute, and utilise locally generated green hydrogen, using renewable electricity to replace imported grey hydrogen and decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors including industry and mobility. The project encompasses full-chain activities — from electrolyser installation and infrastructure design to business model development, regulatory alignment, and end-user integration — with applications in public transport, industrial processes, and energy systems. As a collaborative public-private partnership involving international partners, LuxHyVal is co-financed by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and other sources, driving economic, environmental, and social impact. Professor Ladewig serves as the Project Coordinator, leading the consortium from the University of Luxembourg and ensuring academic leadership in technical innovation, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement for a scalable hydrogen transition.
